Tv Fanatic Gotham Season 5 Episode 2 Reviews
What just happened?
No matter what you lot may have witnessed on Gotham Season 5 Episode nine, Jim Gordon did not ally Lee Thompkins.
It was all a dream. It had to exist. One month afterward placard or not, these 2 lovebirds are not married.
I know Gotham is moving at breakneck speed. It has to now that in that location are simply three episodes left. If anyone needed any proof, all they'd have to look at is how Barbara'due south pregnancy is progressing so speedily.
But even if Jim did recover from his gunshot wound, Lee isn't that drastic to just jump the gun with Jim. There is and then much for her to consider kickoff like how to deal with Barbara and the baby.

Nosotros all know Babs wouldn't just sit down by and let Jim marry Lee so easily when she's carrying his infant. She would have fought tooth and nail to stop the nuptials.
Penguin was correct when he told Barbara that the only reason she was working on Jim's behalf for a ceasefire in the metropolis was to get on Jim's good side. And I think the story he was telling her was her worst nightmare.
So what was happening this hour was a combination of Poison Ivy's craziness, Jim's virtually-death hallucination, and a time to come prediction equally told by Penguin to Barbara.
It was a mixed-upward mess for sure that makes me wonder if any of it was real.

Jim trying to bring a ceasefire might accept been the only real thing that happened but allow's talk virtually Ivy'due south reappearance for a moment and how information technology fits into the reality of the narrative.
The final time we saw Ivy was after she gave Bruce the magic root that saved Selina and turned her into Catwoman.
She promised Bruce she'd disappear, but her hope probably meant nothing. Where would she have been able to go because she was stuck in the city like anybody else?
What is head-scratching is why she decided to target Jim. The only logical reason is that she needed him out of the manner in order to get her toxin into the city's arrangement.

At that place is a possibility that everything on "The Trial of Jim Gordon" was hallucinatory, including Ivy'south story. Or maybe some of it was real at to the lowest degree the office nigh Jim existence shot.
If yous look at it from the bending of everything being a dream, it would make sense because every aspect of what happened this 60 minutes was odd.
Bruce taking Selina to an abandoned house for a romantic canned nutrient dinner seemed out of place.
Their conversation about Bruce's future was interesting, merely them just taking a day off for a night out didn' t seem right because all the craziness happening betwixt Jeremiah and the crazy tunnel guy from before episodes.

While I know everyone swooned at Bruce kissing Selina at the end of Jim and Lee's wedding, sad folks, information technology didn't happen.
Harvey might accept been upset about Jim being shot, but him taking over equally helm was out of character. He's had opportunities like that before and backed down from them.
How was it that he was so quick to effigy out Ivy was the culprit behind Zsasz's spell? He solved information technology lickety-split and every bit much as I similar Harvey, that is not how he operates.
Plus, Harvey conducting the nuptials ceremony? He himself said he wasn't authorized to do such a thing so at that place'southward a big clue correct at that place that none of information technology was existent.
Lucius is style too smart to not have noticed Bruce looked as high as a kite. He would have taken action before Bruce had a gamble to spray him with Ivy's toxin.
And where was Ed during this whole debacle?
No, what happened was Penguin crafted an entire story for Barbara on what would happen if she got all the gangs to cooperate.
Jim getting shot by Zsasz, Ivy infecting everyone, Lee saving Jim's life and marrying him were all from Penguin's imagination.
The only thing that was real was Barbara's desire to leave Gotham.

She knows that she'll never be with Jim now that Lee's back on the scene and the merely way she can think of to punish him is to take his baby and disappear.
Barbara is besides afraid that Jim is going to send her to prison and have her baby away from her which is why she was trying to come upwards with some sort of plan to go on Jim's skillful side.
A ceasefire between the gangs might have accomplished this, but Penguin squashed that dream with his elaborate story, and it was a skilful one!
Besides, he wants to exit of Gotham, and he can't exercise it without Barbara'south help.
If she tin't focus on the chore at paw, he'll never get out of Gotham, and then he needed to give her a reason why edifice the submarine needed to get her top priority.
That's my take, and I'm sticking by it.
On a side note, "The Trial of Jim Gordon" was written by Ben MacKenzie and directed by none other than Babs herself, Erin Richards. It was one of Gotham's most baroque episodes ever. Whatever these two were smoking when they put this together, I ask that they please transport some my way.
So what really happened?
I have no inkling only I wouldn't exist surprised if somehow Jeremiah or even Bane was behind it all.
Over to you!
What's your take on "The Trial of Jim Gordon"?
What do y'all remember really happened?
Is Jim shot?
Did he really marry Lee?
Was it all a work of fiction from Penguin's mind?
